Short Biography:

I graduated from Duke Law School in 1993, and then clerked for Hon. Monroe G. McKay, on the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Salt Lake City. Following my clerkship, I joined the U.S. Department of Justice as an Honors Program Trial Attorney in the Commercial Litigation Branch. After three and a half years at DOJ, I left for Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in D.C., where I focused on business and trademark/Internet litigation and appellate work before the U.S. Courts of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court. Thereafter, I moved back to the Boston area and joined Foley Hoag in Boston, where I focused on patent litigation and computer/Internet disputes. After 7 years, I left Foley Hoag to open my own practice in July 2007.

Short Biography:

I have been practicing business, corporate and securities law for over 7 years â€” specializing in representing startups, emerging growth companies, venture capital firms and angel investors in the technology sector. I represent companies throughout all stages of development including corporation formation, venture capital financings and merger and acquisitions. I represented companies such Polycom, Autodesk, TopTier Software, Virage, Autoweb, Informatica, PeoplePC and Atmel Corporation. I also represented investment banks (such as Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs), entrepreneurs, technology and emerging growth startups, venture capital firms and angel investors. After graduating from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), I started my law practice in Palo Alto in the corporate and securities department at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. It was a great time of learning and developing the fundamental skills I needed to succeed as a corporate and securities attorney. I sincerely appreciated my time there learning from some great attorneys. The years at Wilson Sonsini were pretty eventful with the long hours and late nights while getting married and having two daughters. I have since moved down to Orange County to be closer to family and started Technology Capital Law Group in Newport Beach, California in 2006. Last year, my third (and last!) daughter joined our family.

I love meeting serial entrepreneurs, great venture capital firms and angel investors. Obviously, they provide a great source of legal work for me but I especially love meeting entrepreneurs and investors that are passionate about what they do and the companies they invest in. They have that look in their eyes like a kid who is just about to build his first model airplane -- they see the million of pieces but they can't wait to get started.
