Document Destruction

Although it would be ideal to have a paperless office, that isn't always practical. And even if you are fortunate enough to go entirely paperless, you may have paper files from before the switch to a paperless office. I am Interested in learning what others from small offices are doing for document destruction. For those of us with minimal document destruction needs there do not seem to be a lot of good options. One can buy a shredder and have it done internally, but this is inefficient except for the smallest of jobs.

Business Alert – Mass. Attorney General to Enforce Independent Contractor Law

Recently, the Massachusetts Attorney General (AG) released a draft Advisory which provides further clarification on their interpretation of the state’s independent contractor law, and makes it clear that they will be more aggressive in their enforcement of the law.

If your business uses independent contractors in Massachusetts, we strongly encourage you to determine if you are properly classifying these individuals and if your business is not classifying them properly, to assess your risks.

Recommendations for software to create visual schematics or flow diagrams

Van Smick's picture

One of my lawyers wants to create visual schematics to explain estate plans to his prospective clients. These would be created prior to a face-to-face meeting and I am looking for suggestions on the best Windows-based software package for creating schematics or simple flow diagrams. These will be created from a keyboard, not a stylus and not real time for display.

He wondered about Powerpoint? SmartDraw? Visio? another program?

Thanks in advance!
