How can law firms and attorneys use Web 2.0 technologies to reach their target market, establish trust and credibility, and build strong client relationships? What are the key benefits of implementing a content management system, a blog, a wiki, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.? Victoria Merriman will provide an overview of how lawyers can apply Web 2.0 technologies. Erik Heels is a patent lawyer who has 10,000 followers on Twitter and is generating lots of new business. Erik has practical experience as a lawyer who knows how to use social networking platforms for both fun and profit.

Victoria Merriman is the Creative Director and Founder of Digital Loom. After earning a degree in Visual Studies from Harvard University, she became a technical writer for Boris FX and later served on the Graphic Design faculty at the New England Institute of Art. She launched Digital Loom in 2000 in order to take on a web design contract for Boston University. Digital Loom serves a variety of non-profit, academic, and corporate clients including Harvard Law School, Mass Housing, OneBeacon Insurance, Healthworks Fitness Centers for Women, Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, Global Business Coalition, and Inner City Entrepreneurs.

Erik J. Heels is a patent and trademark attorney who founded the Clock Tower Law Group. He has been on the Internet since 1984. In 1992, Erik wrote The Legal List, the first book published simultaneously on the Internet and in print. Erik has been writing the "nothing.but.net" column for the ABA's Law Practice magazine since 1996 and regularly speaks about issues related to law and technology. After law school, he worked for various Internet companies, including a four-year stint with Verio, which was sold for $6 billion cash in the largest cash deal in Internet history. In 2001, he launched Clock Tower Law Group. He earned his BS in electrical engineering from MIT and his JD from the University of Maine School of Law.
