Topic: "Non-Compete Agreements: What Business Lawyers Need to Know!"
Speaker: Robert Feldman and Anne Marie Longobucco
Place: Birnbaum & Godkin, 280 Summer Street, Boston, MA (Directions)
Companies routinely require employees to enter into broad non-competition agreements. When these agreements are broken, however, courts often narrow their terms or even refuse to enforce them altogether. Our discussion will provide a brief overview of current Massachusetts law, and offer some practical do’s and don’ts for negotiating and drafting effective and enforceable non-competition agreements.
Robert N. Feldman is a partner in the firm of Birnbaum & Godkin. Mr. Feldman has litigated numerous business matters, including non-compete cases, breach of contract actions and intra-corporate disputes. Mr. Feldman's practice focuses on business disputes for companies and individuals ranging from small contract disputes to multi-million dollar complex litigation. Mr. Feldman has represented some of the area's most successful venture capital firms, as well as dozens of emerging and established companies.
Anne Marie Longobucco focuses her practice on business and intellectual property litigation, including actions involving patent, copyright and trademark infringement, false advertising, technology licensing, and intra-corporate disputes. She has represented a broad variety of clients ranging from individual inventors and entrepreneurs to universities and major hardware and software companies.
**Thanks to Birnbaum & Godkin for hosting the meeting!**
The format will be a one-hour meeting from 8:00-9:00am (arrive at 7:45 for networking). A half-hour of networking after the meeting would be optional.
