Business Lawyers Network - Boston **Signup**
Topic: "Effective Networking for Lawyers"
Speaker: Diane Darling, Founder of Effective Networking, Inc.
Place: LEXIS-NEXIS, 10 Milk Street, Boston, MA

Effective networking is critical to generating new business for lawyers. But, would you rather go to the dentist than a networking event? Do you prefer practicing law to socializing? Networking does not have to be painful, according to Diane Darling. Diane literally wrote the book on networking (in fact, two books). Diane will lead an interactive discussion on how lawyers (and other professionals) can be most effective at networking, without trying so hard. If you dread networking, or would just like to improve your skills, this is a “can’t miss” meeting.

Diane Darling is the founder of Effective Networking, Inc., a consulting firm which teaches successful networking techniques to generate opportunity and growth. McGraw-Hill commissioned her to write the definitive book on networking called The Networking Survival Guide which was published in April 2003. In 2005, McGraw-Hill published her 2nd book, Networking for Career Success. Diane has appeared on NBC Nightly News, in The Wall Street Journal, San Francisco Chronicle, and The Boston Globe. Diane is also a monthly columnist for the Boston Business Journal. She teaches in the MBA program at Boston University. Diane has provided networking programs for numerous law firms and spoken at bar association events.

The format will be a one-hour meeting from 8:00-9:00am (arrive at 7:45 for networking). A half-hour of networking after the meeting would be optional.

The Business Lawyers Network (BLN) is comprised of lawyers concentrating in complementary disciplines such as corporate, securities, commercial contracts, government contracts, secured lending, taxes, import/export, immigration, real estate, environmental, patents, trademarks, licensing, etc. Non-lawyer business professionals are also welcome, but the topic and focus of discussion will be geared toward the legal profession.
